nitemareglitch Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I searched this forum and a couple of others, but, could not find any real discussion about WHERE to mount the radiator in a wc system. Inside? Outside? Front? Back? Where do you mount YOUR rad, and why? All and any input is appreciated, and if there was a thread about this already, LINK ME! Cause I could not find it. nitemareglitch Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Yeah, that was one of my concerns, but, this new best will not really be portable.
CPDMF Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Depends on the situation as to where you mount the radiator. Most common is at the front of the case with the fan pulling fresh air in. If you have a small radiator and a high CFM fan you would be best to mount it with the flow out of the case. I am moving my Peltier system to the rig in my sig and I will be running two radiators both blowing out of the case due to the extra heat of the pelt, but I have an exceptionally large tower. It's taller and longer than a stacker. Basically if you have a Low heat system it is OK to draw air in. If it is a high heat system blow it out. nitemareglitch Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Right on CPDMF, thanks for some more info! I am still deciding.
Smoken Joe Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Outside all the heat is placed outside the case helping to keep everything else cool. More room inside the case though I do have room it is just easer that way. CPDMF's comments make a lot of sence to me if you want it in the case. nitemareglitch Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I am looking for max cooling of course. I have a standard heater core from Danger Den with the TDX Just got them yesterday and am waiting on more parts the end of this week. I got the fan shroud so mounting it outside should be a breeze right? I just have issues now with deciding on how to route the tubes outside. *scratches head*
CPDMF Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 They make a piece that fits in the PCI slot. don't know if they have them in half inch tube. Then there is the holesaw and grommet technique.

racinjimy Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 this is pretty cool with a HC
red930 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 this is pretty cool with a HC Thats basically what I did as well, except I put a hole dead center in the top front for the fillport and put my bix3 as far back as i could. Hoses ran very well, though my case is definitely large. I'll try to get some pics up later.
nitemareglitch Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 this is pretty cool with a HC That is totally dope. I like that idea, kinda like a koolance without the poor cooling. Keep these ideas coming! This is cool.
