Anonymous1 Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I feel like my cpu is crudding on me. Lets say that i want to buy a new one...and that price(under $400) is not an issue. What cpu and stepping should i look for? I want an AMD...period. No intel here. And my rig is used for net-surfing and gaming, some videos, and music as well. Links on stepping info would be great as well as who has had what success with which cpu. My 3500 has weak butt multiplyers and im sick of 2.45 being my max, for sure(imo, found with testing and gaming), oc. I just cant believe that the max is that low. Some signs point to the ram, but im starting to think that the cpu is a jerk. Please, all opinions are welcome!
rldolph79 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I'd say the best choice for gaming would be a 4000+ San Diego. Another good choice would be the X2 4200+ Manchester, but unless you really want to spend $400 go for the San Diego.
Anonymous1 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 what about opterons?
Reinvented Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 For future reference, post all recommendations in the recommendations SECTION. But, get the 4000+ San Diego or X2 3800+
aspevacek Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 I would opt for the 3700 over the 4000 on the Sandiego. But that is just me. My chip seems to clock just as well as any 4000 out there.
fiberoptik Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 There no need to get an x2 chip, spend the extra money on a dual core solution. Theres a handful of games out there that actually need to hve one core diasbled just to play properly.
