Badams66 Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 I guess my second question would be is how nicely this would work as a http server?
Psywar Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 when it comes to servers n stuff.. really the only thing that matters is HD space.. and your connection.. you can run an http server off an old 233.. as long as the connection is fast you are all set.. Propane Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Well thats true - unless you have a site like OCC or Microsoft. For a starting web site or for a small FTP a 266 would be fine but larger sites need faster Procs and Memory BTW - what is the server specs for OCC? Badams66 Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Well im not worried about HD space, and ive got a 1.5MBit Cable Connection! But if you could run a small site off an older computer...how would a P1 MMX 250 Work?
blippy Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 (edited) and ive got a 1.5MBit Cable Connection you want to make sure that your UPLOAD speed is good. DSL REPORTS I think that's the right link to it (off the top of my head). if it's not, goto the domain www.dslreports.com and goto tools, and then speed test. it's a java applet, so you need to have a Java VM on your machine (i think every older version of windows has it (before windows xp) installed already) now, it'll tell you the kb/sec for the download, but you'll have to do a little conversion for the upload. EDIT: it looks liek the free servers are down for a bit, they'll be back eventually Edited August 5, 2003 by blippy
