z3scott Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Take your time... Set your multi to the proper 11x. The default voltage on your processor should be 1.5v. What temps are you seeing at idle, and under prime, You might want to remount your hsf to be sure you got it right. Are you using any special thermal interface material like Arctic Silver or what came on or with the hsf? How good is your airflow through the case and what are ambient temps in the room? Read the stickies some more and test your proc first separately by dropping the LDT and running a divider on the ram say 166. You may need to raise your chipset voltage or proc voltage (especially if you are at 1.4v) and keep an eye on your temps. Guest SaLadin_SS Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 at idle i am seeing 40-43c but under 3dmark it was 47-49 and prime sent it crying for mercy pushing north of 50c. also what is the pwmic? under prime it warned me that this was at 70c and in danger (i stopped test) mounting the hsf was tricky on this mobo, so may i will check it again to make sure it is seated correctly. am using artic silver 5 which has always seem to server me well. my have installed an active chip set cooler so that stays at about 29c the case temp is unknow but this antec is large and i have 7 fans blowing will all cable neatly tucked away as to not cause any turbulance room is central air cooled i am correcting the voltage to 1.50min
Guest SaLadin_SS Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Ok i increased the voltage to default 1.50 and my idle temps are now at 47-49c( i know not good) I think i am going to put that Thermaltake Big Water SE 12cm Liquid Cooling System on order tonight Or i think i will be spinning my wheels with this cooling issue (i am still goint to reseat the cpu cooler in the interim)
z3scott Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Quite warm. Definitely remount. The pmwic is a sensor for the mosfet (power ics) it is up and to the right of the socket on our boards. If you are running high vdimm and not using active cooling and your hsf doesn't move lots of air around the socket it will get warm. Guest SaLadin_SS Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 well i have lowered the dram voltage to 3.10 and reseated the hsf. i also tried to remove the hs on the cpu it self but was unsuccesful with reasonable amount of force used. the temp at idle wehere still about 49-50c i lowered the fsb to 218 and the cpu votage control to 1.40 and the temps went back down to 44-46c I believe at this point i need to replace the hsf with a more efficient design.....or simply the one i am using is defective( i have tryed to polish the bottom with 4000 and 8000 grit paper)
Guest SaLadin_SS Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 well gentlaman i have put a liquid cooling kit on order for the cpu http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/d...e-3dgalaxy.html i hope to get the CPU temp in check so we can proceed with overclocking I guess this gives me time to continue to review the stickys that are posted to educate me further thx again ill post back when i have installed the water cooling sytem and recheck my temp at stock settings on prime 95 thx again
Guest SaLadin_SS Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Hello Alright i got the cpu water cooling kit installed, Is there suppose to be this many left over parts?(just kidding). The install was more complicated then i would have liked.............trying to route those fat 1/2" hoses without getting any kinks. But in the end it all came together. Im now seeing CPU temps it the 27-9c idle and prime95 TT nothing above 46c @2350fsb/10 2336t1 I have hooked up with CP on MSN. so we are going to see how far it will goand i will post our results and any other problems you maybe so gracious enough to help me resolve.. Thx again
z3scott Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Good to hear you got those temps down successfully. Good Luck!
Guest SaLadin_SS Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Update I have been trying different things. The only bench marks I have are 3Dmark03 -05 and PCMark04 I have seen improvements from base line setting. It would seem no matter what I do my CPU wills only Do 2.530 Prim95 Stable Anything above that seems to Error. So at 227/11 im there. My mem holds stable at 2335 at this speed. This moved my 3dmark03 score from 12060 to 12433. Also it yielded a pcmark04 score of 4793(I didn't test it at base setting yet to know the improvement there) Now I lowered the Multi to 10 and raised the FSB to 253. My mem is holding at 2.5336. This improved my pcmark04score to 4863, but lowered my 3Dmark03 and 05 scores to 12222 and 6180 respectively. So what to do and where to go at this point? Here is my currently setting.
