nailzs Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 A couple of days ago I was looking at a utility disk I burned (tmods I think), and not thinking I don't have a dvd drive in the computer I put the disk in my USB DVD burner, went to BIOS and changed it to boot from cd, and the disk booted. I was a bit surprised by this so I put in my windows disk and it booted also. Does the DFI mainboards support booting from USB hard drives in the BIOS settings "boot from other"? Grab this http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and burn the ISO and boot it. Also, knoppix is a bootable linuz ISO but I havent tried it in this machine. cantankerous Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 The DFI nF4 does boot off of my USB flash drive without issue. I have two flash drives though only one seems to be bootable and I have no clue why. The bios seems to know what its looking for in a bootable device. I have heard of no reports of usb hard drives though I see no reason why they wouldn't work either. Does anyone actually use zip or usb cd roms drives here? I am very happy the nf4 boots from usb flash as I have no floppy drive and hated the fact that my old nf2 wouldn't do this. Makes life much easier and quicker.
