Loftydog Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Every once in a while, my new computer will stutter and freeze up for about 1-2 seconds. Music skips, game screens skip, everything stops. Happens about once every 5-10 minutes but it seems kind of random. It's stuttering on half life 1:source, so it's not the game's hardware requirements that are creating problems. No o/c yet. Could it be from various programs(i.e. anti-virus, firewall, aol trying to auto update or send info?) Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this question. aembree Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I'm having a similar problem and have yet to discover its source.
madu Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 It could be a virus or something like that...look in the task manager (or download Process Explorer, it shows hidden processors..) when it happens.. So this only happens randomly? how often does it happen? Is your vid card oced..? factory oced? Just a suggestion, if the vid card is oced, try bringing it down a bit and see if the you still get the problem..
Mussels Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 if you guys use ATI tool, try quitting it. Temp monitoring in it does that exact thing to me, where things pause for a sec every now and then (which happens to coincide with the time set to scan for temps, in ATI tool)
