Lil note for anyone going with the Socket Hold-down RBX...
Before you try to install the block, make sure that the clip pieces are pointing slightly inward, otherwise the block will not be securely attached to the socket.
I dunno if all of the SHD kits were like mine, but the top of the frame on this one was upside-down, making the clips barely hold onto the tabs <_< Just disassemble the block and rebuild it the right way!
It's something barely noticable when you look at the RBX but it could save you a lil time if you inspect the block beforehand...

As much as I like macs... I'll be bringing my other 30 cpu-s back online around January 5th

Lovely FL weather... 65 and clear!
Lil windy but better than the usual MD weather...

Now this brings up the question, what could this be used for?
Could use it for a nifty desktop background!
Dunno... think everyone has one for their WU's

my dad friend solders things and he wants it to suck the smoke away
ah!
Well that's a good idea then! Perhaps a ducted 80mm with the transformer attachment...
Interesting project to work on!

Probably be cheaper to just buy a big bucket/igloo cooler, fill it with icewater, and stick the radiator in there... maybe refill the ice every morning or something...
$0 buncha ice from kitchen freezer vs. $600 Phase-change sys... hmmm
...or maybe that's just the budget-modder in me speaking...
I like Ballz2TheWallz's idea though:
why not live at the bottum get 200 miles of cable and about 100pumps run it up the montain and get condensation -
Well, sure, it's possible, but (other than because you can) why would you want to??
Here's how:
You would need to get a transformer, like one of those little black boxes that come with a lot of electrical equipment, first. The transformer would have to be rated for 110-115V input and 7-15V DC output...
Unplug the transformer from the wall socket or any other power device...
Cut the little, round adapter end off of the transformer output wires, separate and partially strip the wires.
Use a multimeter to find out which wire is + and which wire is - (or just test them on the fan)
Splice the proper wires together and cover up any exposed conductors...
Plug in the transformer and enjoy your creation...
NOTE: Whatever you do, don't stick the fan wires directly into the wall...

Have you guys ever skipped school to do something computer-related?
Better yet... have you ever stayed at school longer to do something computer-related?
::feels stares coming this way:: What?!?

That's (freak)ing aweful... why would anyone play if they're not going to play fair?
Doesn't that defeat the point of playing against someone in the first place?

Thats an easy one...
We have morals...
Life would be so much easier without morals....
In the "Land of Opportunity", it is the opportunistic that propser, not the moral. <_<
Guess it takes all kinds...

Not like you need anymore help staying ahead
Staying ahead?? I'm still back here in 3rd though! And then ::checks stats:: 427 more users to go! (hey nothing wrong with goals...)
LOL
Thanks, y'all!

No freaking way! (yes... that is a suprise)
That is pretty sweet!!
My thanks x2 to all in the Club!

Dunno about the L30, but putting the VIA 1300 up against the L20, the Hydor pump is much much quieter and runs cooler. The water flow is probably a lil less, but there's no need to have a monsterous 1300 rattling your case...
The Hydor is a higher quality pump IMHO.

Stuck with using a mac? Does that qualify as premature enlightenment?

C:\users\install\fah makes a nice install directory on most winxp and win2k systems if you can't use the C:\program files folder...

LOL
That is pretty durn funny when you're half-asleep and have no clue what it is...
Retro commercials are great

kill!
Hoo-rah!?

Wow...
Thanx! That helps out a lot...
Eva_Unit_0's first post about the higher end cards being able to still be competitive as more advanced games come out makes sense to me...
Extra thanks to GTSticky for providing a source to go along with his claim... guess I fell into the 30 fps myth!
... and until I start pulling in the big bucks (or overclock my brain), I'll stick with my exceptional Radeon 9500np.

Heya... I was hoping that some of the video fanatics here could help me out with this lil bit of confusion:
If your brain can only register a frame rate of ~30 to 45 frames/sec, then what is the logic in spending the big bucks for a high-end video card that spits out 60-80+ fps?? If a mid-range card provides all of the features (DX9 , pixelshader, etc) at a consistant 30 fps, then why spend close to $400 for a 9700/5900?
Also, besides the 'because you can' reason, is OCing a GPU worth it? Is getting 185 fps in a benchmark any more noticable than getting 180 fps?
Is there something that I'm neglecting here?
Thx!

what about mobo risers
well sure!
How would ya ever get your poor lil mobo up without 'em?
