So what is better gtx 1080 sli, 3 way gtx 980ti or 4way gtx 980ti? Cannot find any real performance comparisons online. I do wanna run 4k. Braegnok Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Hello Red, Welcome to OCC. Best GPU configuration to achieve full SLI clock speeds today, would be 2-way SLI GTX 1080's using new SLI HB Bridge @ 650 MHz, & Core i7 Extreme processor. REDSPD3GT Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Ok many thanks. So question. What about using a third GTX 1080 for a Phys X card? Will I see a difference?
Braegnok Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) With Pascal cards in 2-way SLI you will not need a third card for dedicated PhysX,.. running the new Pascal OpenGL extensions starting with the 367.XX drivers, and GameWorks 3.1 development kit, which introduces several new physics simulation solutions including - PhysX GRB and NVIDIA Flow : http://physxinfo.com/news/12649/gdc-2016-physx-gpu-rigid-body-and-nvidia-flow/ Unlike previous implementations that benefit from running dedicated physx card, you will not see a noticeable difference worth the cost of adding dedicated third card with Pascal SLI. ccokeman Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Only reason to go with a third card with Pascal is to manage the positional audio and PhysX while running a VR headset. GTX 1080 SLI is going to deliver 4K performance.
