ccokeman Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 The thing to be concerned about in a small case is the temperature of the VRM and components more so than the CPU. 87C is not bad since the retail heat sink will let the chip get that warm under the same loading.Good thing the VRMs are under the heatspreader then. I would check motherboard temps if possible, but I bet they aren't bad even at full load. True, most are but in tight spaces without airflow they get mighty Toasty with a load on them. ericgcollyer Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) After about 14 hours of prime95 on the max heat setting, the temperature of the processor never got above 87C. The coolest core had a max temp of 84C. I also checked the temps on the motherboard (using HW Monitor by CPUID), and nothing seemed too out of the ordinary. I think I'll leave things as is and go ahead and start installing software. Thanks for all your help! GabrielT Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 If it's running too hot for you, I have a 4590 that happily runs at 3.5Ghz that I would gladly trade you ;D Your temps are a bit toasty but nothing I would worry about.
