ir_cow Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 The only major problem with Samsung ssds is they are TLC nands and that means 100TB or read and writes . You couldn't kill a MLC drive unless you tried really hard for months . A TLC drive only needs to be used normally for a year before its dead . 100TB is nothing . wevsspot Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I would dispute the prediction that after one year the Samsung 840 pro SSD would be dead, but we'll leave that for another discussion Other than finding a drive on sale... IMHO the best 120Gb SSD on the market for price and performance right now is the Corsair Neutron GTX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233404 It is one of the very few SSDs that don't suffer a performance loss based on the capacity of the drive. While I certainly wouldn't turn down a Samsung 840 Pro at the right price, I think $149 is just too much money for that particular drive. wevsspot Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 A few minutes ago, I saw Vertex 4 120GB is on sell for ~$74 in newegg, in the Black Friday deal. Ok, that's the same product. You may buy vertex 4 now, which would be a very good deal. Link please?
