IVIYTH0S Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I've hopped my windows 7 install between 3 different laptops now and I just tweaked the registry to remove all the old drivers manually and then installed the relevant ones for the newer laptop's hardware. Runs perfect. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff184583.aspx <---- this allows you to see inactive drivers that are just sitting on your system. I even cleaned off my old video card and chipset drivers off my desktop, it was sad seeing all my drivers from the 4870x2 up being deleted one by one but atleast I got to personally bid each farewell. Didn't really seem to hurt to have them on there but why not Edited April 21, 2013 by IVIYTH0S
RedFury77 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 So the new rig has its own HDD right? Do a clean fresh install and then when it's up and running, connect your laptop drive and move all your files and pics over. Sure you'll have to re-install programs and games, but it's really not that bad. You'll have it done in a day. Then you can wipe the laptop drive and sell it, or keep it plugged in and use it for backups.
