raisethe3 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Asus dvd writers are usually good drives, I've never had a problem with them or lg drives. Yeah, but maybe I just got a dud one. Don't know if I can get a refund though. I bought this almost 4 months ago.
bishop245 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Have you tried using the built in burning feature of windows yet? If you have the yes it's probably a dud of a drive. If you haven't give it a try, and save a little money for the time being.
wevsspot Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Before you return it, I'd check Asus' website and see if there is a firmware update (as previously mentioned). I use a lot of Asus & LG DVD R/W drives and haven't ever had a bad one.

No software or anything. I thought it was the media I am using (TDK) but it work and burns fine.

I have never tried this, so maybe that could be the reason why?
bishop245 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I just checked the Asus site for your drive. I didn't find any firmware updates for it under any OS option. I am no software guru, so I can't help on that part. I would say your drive is fine and your software is screwy though.

SpikeSoprano Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 You could try shutting down the pc, unplug the sata cable , restart the pc( it won't show the drive ), shut it down again and plug it into another sata port and let the pc detect it again, might solve your problem.
