royspencer13 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hello,This is my first post and it regards a choice I have to make next week.My current GPU died out and I
jimbo312 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) I Bought the EVGA 970 SSC with ACX 2.0+ and really like it. To be honest I would not get the FTW unless you get the top notch FTW with the ACX 2.0+ cooler (04G-P4-3978-KR). The way it looks to me the EVGA 970 SSC with ACX 2.0+ (04G-P4-3975-KR) is a bit cheaper, has just a bit better cooling ability, has better overclock ability since it has 1 8 pin and 1 6 pin power connecter vs the FTW with ACX 2.0 has just 2 6 pin power connectors. Im running my 970 SSC right now at 1419 boost clock speed and could stand to go much higher. As for the question at hand: If you are referring to the twin frozr card, I can't tell because i think your model # you have listed is wrong, then you really won't be able to tell much difference between the two cards. It all boils down to you personal preference of looks and luck of the draw on gpu chips I say go with whichever fits your budget first then if you feel the extra year of warranty is worth the extra cost then get the EVGA. royspencer13 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Hi, Yes the EVGA card would be the 04G-P4-2978-KR you mentioned. So you would consider it better than the MSI cad I refered before? And the price difference is worth it? jimbo312 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) Reread my post. I added and changed a couple of things: the model number of the FTW card I mentioned being one. To sum it up either get the EVGA 970 SSC or the MSI. MSI will do fine and will likely not cause you any problems. I am an EVGA fan myself so I tend to go that route over the others. IVIYTH0S Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Get the cheaper one lol, both are good, jimbo makes a better point if the SSC model then get that!
royspencer13 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 This is the webpage for the MSI card, maybe I got the wrong referene somewhere. The price difference is considerable and I might get another upgrade in a couple of years time anyway so I guess the MSI is probably the way to go. Thanks for the help. jimbo312 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Go MSI then. You can't really go wrong with your choices they are both good reputable graphics card manufacturers.

royspencer13 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Something I forgot to ask, I can't seem to find the proper number reference for this card model. On the website I can only see "GTX 970 GAMING 4G", but I think the reference is some other number.Does anyone know?
