  1. It was only a bit more than the regular core 2 proc I was gonna get anyways. I figured since it uses less energy and produces less heat it would be better for a laptop. I never buy the most expensive anything...look at my sig As for the 8600 on board video, what does this measure up to in a DX9 game? Which 7xxx is it on par with? I want to make sure this thing will run semi-new games at a decent framerate on native res. I've heard the 8600/8700 lack in data width so for higher resolutions they drop off pretty fast. Thank you both for responding. Both were very helpful posts. I love that you can order without an OS from those links. I wish more companies gave you that option.
  2. After a good amount of research, I think this is the system I'm going to go with, but I would like some input. It's over my price range(wanted under 2000), but oh well. I picked a brand spanking new 45nm Penryn Intel processor. There's not much info on them yet so we'll see how that works out. The only thing I'm really worried about is the vid card. I've heard the 8600M/8700M GTs are weak for any DX10 game so that's why I went with the 7950 GTX. Would I be better off waiting for a bit and picking up one with a better DX10 capable vid card? Anyone have any other criticisms about this notebook? Is it worth the price of $2,250? I've never bought a Sager before, but I've heard good things. 3. i am looking to pick up a 30ish dollar HDD enclosure and a decent sized HDD(read: 250-320GB) to put in it. i was wondering if the USB connection can keep up with the SATA transfer speeds or even ATA100+ speeds. is there any advice anyone has using an external drive enclosure? what one would you recommend? thanks in advance
  4. i have an eVGA 7900GT KO, and if i put that leadtek or hauppage card in will i be able to route the tv signal from the satellite box-->tuner card-->graphics card-->TV? in that situation does the image lose quality or just when you record and play back(or rewind for that matter)?
  5. i just got Dish Network(satellite tv), and was told that i could use my computer as a "Tivo" box. does anyone have any advice on what to do and what not to do? i've been recommended this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16815116620 any advice is appreciated.
  6. i think PRJ's "not even remotely helpful" comment is dead on. going 2t will probably do the trick to get them stable.
  7. i recommend the DFI NF4 SLI Infinity if you're tight on cash. it OCs nicely minus all the unneccesary flair
  8. if you are using air cooling 1.7v is way too high. watch your temps. i wouldnt let the cpu go over 55 degrees C.
  9. i'm no expert, but it sounds like a bad memory controller on the CPU to me.
  10. the ram in my sig clocks up to 268mhz at 1t 3-4-3-8. just to add another option for ya
  11. you may have problems using those sticks of ram in any DFI board. apparently they dont like value ram, especially when they're two different sticks of value ram. this is just hearsay and i'm sure one of the more experienced Streeters will tell you the real deal.
