got new cables & i seemed to have solved my problem. cheers guys

i have havign a problem with my desktop pc at the moment it is an AMD 4000 std clock DFI nf4 SLI expert 2GB Ocz Platinum pc3200 2X1gb 2x XFX 7800gtx in sli 160 gig western digital hard drive ide (used to have a maxtor 80gig ide) windows XP Media Centre Edition'05 the problem is every5/6 boots my hard drive is becoming invalid & wont boot. i think windows has been reinstalled about 20 times in so far this year if not more. i am wondering if it could be a problem with the hard drive controller on the motherboard. the hard drive is connected to the primary channel & is the only ide drive on that channel. things i will be trying tomorrow 1. swapping the channels round so my combo drive & dvd burner are on the primary 2. swap the connector the HD is on 3. cable swap round has anyone had problems with the ide hard drive controller on this board before? or Windows XP MCE. or does any1 have any contructive suggestions? cheers in advance

cheers guys quite liking the sound of the thermalright ultra 120 extreme. any idea if you could fit 2 fans to it? in a push pull configuration? i know anythign is possible with clip ties or has anyone tried this 1? i am looking into building a new pc within the next month or so. i currently have a thermalright XP-90C with a vantec tornado 92mm fan attached. i know i would need to buy the 775 retention module for this Heatsink I was looking to invest in an intel core2 quad6600 also like the x38 board from asus, maximus formula in either guise. also already have a crossfire setup atm so would take my 2 x1900s. my other thoughts in CPU coolers are. the thermalright HR-01 plus with the fan ducting. possibly with a 2nd fan istalled in a push pull comfiguration. open to try other maunfacturers aswell i have no interest in watercooling at the moment. any help on choices would be greatful recieved. :thumbs-up:

help having problems with a friends USB drive it stopped being recognised in her desktop pc so she had it with her at work last night to see if it wud be recognied the same message came up on the works pc. i have it plugged into my laptop at the moent in the device manager it has a yellow circle with an asterisk. any ideas how to sort this problem. the 1st time i plugged it in i go the same message as last night. any help would be greatful guys

cheers guys that was quick. any suggestions on manufacturer ive seen a powecolor card that runs at 800mhz GPU & memory at 1200mhz most of the other 3870s ive seen run at 775mhz gpu & memory arround the 1150mhz mark

i am looking at new video cards for a gaming system to buy within the next month to 6 weeks. currently i have an skt939 opteron on an asus a8r32-mvp deluxe currently have a crossfire setup with 2 X1900xt. not likely to be upgrading rest of system within the next year. i play quake 4, fear, battlefeild2 & 2142. do fancy COD4 & crysis. OS is XP pro 2gigs OCZ platinum

i am having problems with my DFI motherboard when i coem to use the usb ports. if i plug in a usb device i get the nessage saying that this device coupld operate faster if plugged into a hi speed usb port. i get the same message when i plug a usb 2.0 device into any of the 10 usb ports. 6 on the io sheild 2 on a pci blanking plate 2 on the front i installed the usb 2.0 software driver that was included on the cd that came with the board. still to no avail. in the bios i have the On chip USB set to v1.1 & v2.0 the other options are disable, v1.1 or v1.1 & v.2.0 can't remember bios version but will add it tomorrow when i get home from nightshift. i also have a couple of screen captues of the messages that come up. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated cheers mike

i think ive used most of the hard drive in the list IBM Hitachi Western Digital Maxtor Seagate i think the most reliable hard drives i have had are western digital & IBM/ Hitachi deskstars least reliable hard drives ive had are Maxtor & prob seagate i think im jsut very unlucky with hard drives tho i must have had the bulk of the most recent ones i have bought have gone tits up on me

help! i am having problems with my viewsonic VX922 LCD monitor. the problem i am haivng is pink interference all over the monitor in windows & also green & pink interference while playing various games. games i have been playing are call of duty 2 counterstrike condition zero fear catalyst driver version 6.9 temps with in the catalyst control centre are sitting between 65deg & 75 deg my current setup is:- 148 opteron at stock speed with XP90C 2 gig OCZ titanum 2-3-2-5 2x 1gig ASUS A8R32-MVP DELUXE crossfire board ge cube x1900xt & x1900 crossfire edition card(not sure of manufacturer ) both with arctic cooling accelero X2 coolers

looking to extend the 4pin +12V power cable i am thinking of taking the plug & cable off one of my old PSU jsut need to find an old motherboard with a 4pin header on it. or has anyone heard of being able tobuy extensions? cheers in advance again

looking for software for copying across from 1 hard drive to the next. it is for my laptop jsut bought a new hard drive. i know this is the lazy mans way of doing it but jsut want it done quickly. either free software or bought software. my laptop is a fujitsu seimens Amilo M3438G it has an 80gig SAta HDD segate momentus got a new 120gig Sata HDD segate momentus got a external drive closure for it jsut need the software suggestion cheers in advance folk
