AlterBridge86 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 Hey guys - i'm lookin to pick up a new proc for my DFI NF4 SLI-DR rig, however, i'm wondering whether to get a 3500 NC or a 3200 Winnie. Its going to be running under my vapochill, so is the cold bug still a problem with the NF4? Also, i need to have a strong memory controller...I understand that its all luck as far as overclocking goes, but which has better odds? Thanks for the help. AlterBridge86 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 hey - thanks for the reply - i now have my specs in the signature...my reasoning for looking for another "cheap" processor is i want to try it out for the mem controller..my fx55's sucks royally...anyway, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
cgbben1 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 If it has a clawhammer core it prob. has C0 stepping which leas to a weak mem controaller! Keep that in mind
AlterBridge86 Posted February 9, 2005 Posted February 9, 2005 my FX55 is a Clawhammer of CG stepping...and it still sucks...its rather old, 0435 production week...but either way...still pondering this NC or Winchester question as the only other Clawhammer available in socket 939 is the 4000+ which is still a tad bit pricy...thanks! PS Its definitely my mem controller because i've had several pairs of memory all getting stuck at around 266htt. Anything above that causes loads of errors despite vcore or vdimm.
