jdlo56 Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 im using a vantec copper chipset cooler to mount on the NF3 250gb chipset, the same one here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-110-103&depa=0 when i clean off the stock chipset cooler's white thermal compound, whats the best method to apply Arctic Silver 5 onto the chipset? the same "3/4 BB" that Arctic silver 5 recommends for CPUs? (found here http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm) or should i coat the entire chipset with a paperthin layer of AS5, as with a credit card at 45 degree? New-B Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Most chipsets are not very flat so the BB method leaves a little to be desired ( I would think). So I spread it on. I've always put chip coolers on by using the cheap compound that comes with it to do a test fitting. Then remove HS to see how it contacts.....if only the edges have compound on it, then I know the chipset is concave and needs more AS in the middle etc.
