dark link Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Hello to all who read i have ordered a new computer from Chillblast.com (a UK computer company) i was looking to overclock my CPU when it arrives, they state on their website that you cannot overclock more than 3.2Ghz when using the ram i selected. a list of the parts to help everyone although here it states that they will overclock it for me at 3.4Ghz, when purchasing i got an email saying that due to some components (i think the ram) that they will not be able to OC any higher than 3.2Ghz?! i am a complete noob when it comes to overclocking (am only 17yr old) and would like to know what they are on about. Crazy_Nate Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 You're going to have a hard time determining how far a computer you *don't* have will overclock. Overclocking is not really predictable. Computers with the same hardware may not overclock the same. I say, wait and see. The people here can point you in the right direction for information and help you if you get stuck. If you had to ask me, I'd say that CPU cooler would hold you back (it looks to be near identical to the cooler that is on my Opteron - I wouldn't recommend it explicitly for a quad... ) Welcome to OCC! :thumbs-up: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
