cirro Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) for some reason, once go above 1.63v on my mobo it seems to not post after saving settings and restart (yes it saves settings) no error codes anything, but when i turn it off at the power supply with the same exact settings it boots up, (on it right now) any ideas? signature parts specs :edit: oh and this includes restart from OS, but works fine one i manually use my power switch Edited April 1, 2008 by cirro
werty316 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 1.685v?!?!?! Unless I am mistaken isn't that kinda of dangerous even if you are watercooled? Don't set your vCore above 1.63V is a simple solution...
cirro Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 the thing is in the bios, its showing me 1.63 now, and when i get onto windows cpuz, hwmonitor all report a max of like 1.58, its a drop that sucks.
cirro Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 should i try vdroop mod?
ccokeman Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Do you have loadline calibration enabled?
hardnrg Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 should i try vdroop mod? I assume the 780i vdroop mod is identical to that of the 680i... For me, the mod reduces vDrop and eliminates vDroop vDrop = selected vCore - reported/measured idle voltage vDroop = load vCore - idle vCore I have 1.5625v selected in BIOS atm, with CPU-Z it reads 1.552v idle and load I did the mod live, at 1.4v, with a 4B pencil, then confirmed vDroop = 0 when vCore = 1.5V, then taped it over... It's very easy to overdo this mod with a 4B... I tried a HB on another board and it took forever lol... a 2B is probably best Also, don't blame me if you mess up the mod and kill your mobo... but it did help me with speeds > 3.6 GHz that I couldn't get stable sans-mod
cirro Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 yes bios settings finally report the same as cpuid and other programs, yeah, did the pencil vdroop and running at a lower voltage
