kingdingeling Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 You have two motherboards in there.... one being the XFX 680i LT which supports SLI, the other being the Maximus Extreme, supporting CrossFire

fire_storm Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 sorry, I am using the Maximus Extreme the XFX 680i is a Bundled Item. Well the 2, 2900XTs in crossfire would probably be able to out preform a signal 8800 ultra. I would check out Toms hardware vga comparison if you want to see how the 2 video cards did against each other in different games and apps. kingdingeling Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 fire_storm, I doubt he's on about 2900XT's. I'm guessing it's two HD3870's, which will also beat the 8800Ultra
nacano Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I have looked at a the VGA charts that where supplyed to me and it looks like that a single 8800 ultra default Hardware setting (non-oc) is a good choice, I also have herd that sometime SLI/Crossfire does not always work. But I think that chart is also just single card setting I would like to see a SLI/Crossfire type chart to, Thanks.
kingdingeling Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Yea, as you're comparing a single 8800Ultra to dual HD3870's, the HD3870's will definetly win!
Waco Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Yea, as you're comparing a single 8800Ultra to dual HD3870's, the HD3870's will definetly win! By a fairly good margin in most things too!
kingdingeling Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 They're also less expensive than one 8800Ultra methinks

When you hear it didn't work with someones rig chances are its probably because they got some big bottleneck in there system like a slow cpu or not enough ram that caused there problems. You shouldn't have any problems considering it looks like your set up can handle SLI or crossfire.
