Upgrading my laptop CPU

Hey guys,

 

I have a compaq presario v3118au and was looking to throw a turion X2 2.0 --> 2.2 ghz in there over my current 1.6. I talked to the tech support guy on the net who said the it could only take the 1.6. He was a bit dismissive though and recommended that i not try and upgrade the processor, that it voids the warranty etc etc. Still, I want to ask you guys if you reckon the bios would recognise the better chip.
