Sneakytrooper Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 whats the difference in a modular psu and a standard psu?
Guest Raven65 Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Regular psu all wires pre connected. Modular, you can add and remove wires, usually harder to manage. Due to the stiffness of the wires and it seems the rails on many aren't that great.
anthony Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Modular describes the ability to disconnect wires. But doing so increases resistance in the lines thus lowering voltage. There really is no reason to use modular cables, the aged old marketing ploy of 'better wire management' is a lie. Modular or not, good wire management possible. Hyper Threaded Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Don't choose a PSU based on whether or not it's modular, ever. If anything, having the connectors strewn about the front of the PSU looks a bit messier. I can say that cos I have a modular PSU.
