CmpFreak88 Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Alright so I've got my file server running in the back and my dad insists that the old Pentium 2 takes up too much power and is jacking up the electric bill so we always have to turn it off. Well I try and access the dang thing every time I turn on my computer and it's always off so I have to run over to the server computer and turn it on to get my files. So I read into it and found that it had Wake On Lan capabilities on the motherboard and Lan Card. So I hooked up the cable and I don't know what to do. The motherboard is an Epox MVP3C and the Card is a Linksys LNE100TX V5. What I assume is that when I try and access the computer it will turn it on... correct? Or is it only to wake it up from hibernate or something... I looked through the motherboard BIOS and couldn't find any options to enable it. How would I go about setting it up? Thanks. mantonr Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 yep you have to send the network card a 'magic packet' just download the software from the link hardnrg has given you and that should sort you out.
