Changing The Multiplier?

Hi, well i was obvoiusly just trying to OC my CPU as any loyal geek and can seem to get it to around 3.6ghz (from 3ghz) on problem. However, cant really get past that without setitng voltages way too high for my liking (like 1.6V will get me to 3.8ghz). I really want to hit 4ghz though :O

So i was wondering, can you change the multiplier and is it a good idea? I have a 3.0E so my multiplier is x15 (200x15 = 3000). Can i up the mulitplier? obvoiusly, if it could run at 16, it would run much faster yes... like 230mhz...

Can someone explain the hardware implications of doing this (im an Electrical Engineer student and just like to know even if i dont understand ^_^)

I can't really explain it But im pretty sure you can't change the Multiplier. Unless its some type of special engineering sample or something they are all locked.

you can't up the multi on any regular p4... Tho in fact its actually easier to OC on a lower multi, i know those 3.0Es will hit 4.0 easy. If you get lucky like i did you can lower the multi if you wanted too... but i don't think thats what you want to hear
