Hog Wild Overclocker' Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Here's my situation. The lady I work for has a Dell that the mobo has gone bad. I called Dell and they want $300 = just to send me a new motherboard. They MUST be joking. After I told the guy to pull his thumb out of his ., I decided I'll skip the Dell branded and get my own case and new mobo. My question is..How do I transfer over the old drive onto the new motherboard. Since the HD will be looking for old drivers for the Dell board, how do I get this to work? Or am I making this out to be harder than it really has to be? Thanks in advance folks.
cptkook Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 just swap your drive over and windows will install all the new drivers and you'll be able to install them from your mobo drivers cd if need be. But I want to worn you that you can not use Dell proprietary power supplies on non dell mobo's! you'll either burn out the psu or the mobo (I learned the hard way) you need to get a new psu along with the mobo. Hog Wild Overclocker' Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Thanks for the answers guys. I am really hoping NOT to have to do a re-install on the HD. I just did it a month ago and it took FOREVER to find all her installation disk to get everythin back on there. Thanks again guys
