Grpahics Card Making Monitor Die?

Lobby

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Ive been having problems lately with high spec grpahics cards. Whenever i used high spec cards in my machine ( nvidia 6600 or ati 9600 ) and i try to play any 3d game at all after 5 seconds or so the monitor just cuts off and goes into standby. Windows still keeps running but the monitor just wont turn on.

I do not have this problem at all with lower spec graphics cards ( nvidia 4200ti ) it only seems to be high spec ones. My pc itslef is quite high spec:

Barlton 3200

480 Zaltek psu

1gig of ram

Asus a7n8x-e motherboard

Any help would be massively appreicated.

I bet it is a power probelm with the video card takin up more power and your system then shuts down. What are your rails? Check them with a multimeter. Also have you tried different moniters?

I agree...sounds like the vid is drawing too much juice and the card is shutting itself down to prevent damaging itself.

Try a different monitor first, but I can almost guarantee you'll be needing a new Antec or Enermax 480w-550w PSU soon!
