See it like fades out around the edges?

 

Any idea how to do that?

 

My friend says that it is a soft lay

and that I should change the layer of my pic

to soft light and just paint onto it with a soft brush.

But it doesn't seem to work.

 

Any ideas?

it's pretty easy

use a gradient - radial - reverse

and adjust to your liking

when u cut out and image IN photoshop u set the feather to 15PX and it will have that affect. I think thats what you are talking about. Kinda like my sig image?

the feather one seems to be working pretty cool.

Don't know why I didn't think of it.

the way i would do it to create a layer mask (it's the button icon in the layer window that looks like a circle inside a rectangle)

 

then Alt-click on the layer mask and create a radial gradient from white to black (starting at the centre of where you want stuff to show, to the edge of where you want stuff to be transparent)

 

and then click back on the picture part of the layer.... hey presto, a transparency fade around the edges... best thing about it is you simply have to redraw the radial gradient to change the transparent fade... the original picture remains intact, it just has a faded transparency applied to it...
