Athlon Xp 1800 Heat Issues

Does anyone know of any heat issues with the athlon xp 1800? Most everyone that I have talked to have the same problems that I do. I have a lian li aluminum case with 2 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan plus my power supply is an enermax with 2 fans. I also have a volcano 9 wish as3. I have used rounded cables and have plenty of room for airflow. My temps on idle is about 48c and load is about 56c.

He's using AS3 thermal compound...

Not heard of any "problems" with it, but the AMD CPUs do run hotter than the Intel counterparts.

*Are your running your Vol9 at max RPM?

*What is the temp of the room?

*Try aadding a higher CFM fan to the exaust. With 2 intake and 1.5 exaust (I never count the PSU fan as a real exaust) your probably letting air out fast enough.

*If you could, add a 90mm or 120mm blow hole to the top.

*Double check your HSF and make sure it is on correctly.

*Make sure you didn't apply to much compound.

*You can also try taking the side pannels off the case.

*Check the CPU vCore (Core Voltage) in the BIOS, see if you can lower it any.

what motherboard are you using? And how are your intake exhaust fans situated?

I have the same chip, and it does run warm. I had to change my intake points to make a difference, I know have one directly over the V9 bringing cool air to the heatsink!

let me know what else

I've got a 1900+ with one intake front bottom of case. volcano 9 and two exhaust fans directly next to the volcano9.

I'm running the 1900+ at 1728MHz and getting about 41c idle and 45 loaded. Not o/c as much as it could go but stable.

Hot but under 50c

Yes i have the v9 running at the highest speed. I have 2 stock intake fans in the front at the bottom(also running at the highest speeds) and 1 exhaust fan out the back. The exhaust fan is right next to the v9. I have replace the stock exhuast fan with a cooler master one that has about 4 or 5 more cfm. For some reason I only got about 5c lower temps from my v9 w/as3 then with the stock hsf.

Do you think that another exhaust fan would do the job?

If you do then should replace my window with a window that has a 92 mm cut out or just put another 80mm under my exiting one?

Xst, you dont want to have the fans fighting eachother for air. Try turning off those exhaust right next to the cpu fan. If they're fighting for air then your temps will go down. Flip them around so taht the fan is blowing air onto your cpu hsf. When I did this my temps dropped 4 degrees.

as payment for the advice I want you to hook me up with that chick in your avatar :P

how much that lower your temps? when I had a coolermaster hsf it lowered them 4 degrees and then when I put on my v9 it didnt affect the temp by more then a degree or 2...
