How bout a case hole right across from the CPU and a duct to the HSF? So the HSF would be getting ambient air direct, not preheated, already-travelled-through-the-case air.

I'm a newbie trying to design my overall coooling setup.

This idea has been proven to provide extra cooling as well as(if the duct is well built) quieten the case sounds a bit.

Good luck

I did the same thing awhile back. I used modelers plastic. It makes good ducting, it's light and durable. You can get it at most any hobby shop or craft store.

Good luck!

tuperware makes an Excelent ducting.  And I have also used Dryer hose nefore as well.  that works great for moving air to specific spots and help tone down noise a bit

Thanks for the tips ;)

How does one use modeler's plastic for ducting?

And tupperware - did you just find the right shaped container and cut to suit, or..?

thanks again!

If you want to make a duct, it would probally be a better idea to have the air blowing out, and have the duct bend to the back of the case instead of the side panel.

Also consider making a trip to the local car audio shop. They may have an enclosure port long enough to suit you, AND it would looke professional!
