Brian Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 I'm thinking of upgrading starting with a "AMD K8 SOCK939 AC97 4PATA 5PCI 6USB2 DDR400/333 FSB80 GA-K8VNXP-939 ATX" what do U think?
ShadowPaktu Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 You coulda just written the mobo and proc name which would make it easier to read. As i dont have a basis of what you have already, and upgrading from, then all i can say is that socket 939 will give you an upgrade path in the future (= good) i dont know what speed your going for as you didn't say, but still you gout a future for the socket at least. The board as far as i can tell is good, VIA K800 Pro chipset which is a solid performer, good at stock but dont try to overclock it, AC97 sound, SATA RAID inbuilt, duel bios (if i remember) ton of USB ports and 4 DIMM's (oh, also i think this one has a firewire port too) Now, what the hell do you have now and what do you want out of your pc?!?! lol

agentorange Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 The above was not neccessary. When someone asks what your system is they want to know: motherboard, processor, ram (speed/size/brand), graphics card, operating system, and hard drive. If they need more they will ask for it. Try listing just those six items, what you want to do with your computer, and how much you want to spend. Then someone can help you. Brian Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Hi, I don't know!! I'm just looking around and trying to make polite conversation ask a few questions and see what sort of responce I get. If it is too hard to sift through the info provided, OK . I have already given other details I don't want a definitive answer just a general look at the topic. Do U always have 2 dot the i's and x the t's?

TimeMachine Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 LOL the info was funny, first time seeing it since i was a member here at occ. and ummm yea the 939 is beautiful, with a good mobo like the Neo2 Plat by MSI, youll see a great speed, and wit dual channel ram like the OCZ or Corsair, youll see a great change of speed. henbenley Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 if you get that motherboard you will need a new cpu right away to be able to use it. your current cpu will not fit in the socket of the new motherboard. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that. You might need to get new ram too and a new PSU maybe.
