Scottfu Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Hello, I'm new to overclocking, guys! Hope you'll help me Computer specifications: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 3.2GHz TUF B450M-PRO GAMING, Bios ver. 2006 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 2x8gb 2666mhz Clock speed = 3.2Ghz - 3.7Ghz CPU Voltage = 1.0v = 1.15v I'm done with the 12-hour test of prime95's torture test (Small FFTs). 0 errors found. The temperature is around (70-75°C, 100% CPU utilization). I noticed some freezes and sometimes crashing of the GPU while playing valorant. - Does overclocking the CPU affecting the GPU? Is this a sign of bad cpu overclock? - Do you think increasing the voltage will solve this? Thanks, Scott
Guest_Jim_* Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Hello Scott. A bad CPU overclock can definitely cause the GPU to crash, as it is the CPU running the drivers and doing many other things. I don't know if more voltage would be the solution here, there are others with more experience that can answer that, but it could be. Personally I would back off on the overclock as pushing the voltage would push temperatures too, but that is completely my personal preference. (I like to run things cooler and let the boost algorithm do what it wants.) Also pushing the voltage too high is what can damage a chip. Look up what the safe voltages are for the R7 2700 to stick within those.
