Begin the primary way we get information from our computers, the specifications and capabilities of our monitors is very important. Eve is a company that has already produced a product, the Eve V 2-in-1 laptop via a community design effort, so the features people wanted would be included, and its next product can now be reserved, the Eve Spectrum series of monitors. There will be three Spectrum monitors and while some details are still being ironed out, all three can be reserved now with the plan being to ship in Q3 or Q4 depending on the model.

All three versions use 27 in displays with the lowest, the Spectrum QHD 144Hz having a resolution of 2560x1440 with 144 Hz refresh rate. It covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has a peak brightness of 450 nits, which is enough to satisfy the VESA DisplayHDR400 standard. The Spectrum QHD 240Hz offers the same resolution but bumps the refresh rate up to 240 Hz and the brightness to a peak of 750 nits, allowing it to meet the DisplayHDR600 standard. Finally, at the top is the Spectrum 4K 144Hz with a 3840x2160 UHD display capable of a 144 Hz refresh rate and the same 98% DCI-P3 color gamut of the other two.

All three of these monitors will also support both AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro standard and be NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible so those using AMD or NVIDIA GPUs will get to enjoy the benefits of variable refresh rates. They do also support variable overdrive by multiple profiles and low-framerate compensation. For ports the monitors will have one HDMI input, two DisplayPort 1.4 connections with one being an output for daisy-chaining, and a USB Type-C connection supporting the DisplayPort Alternate mode for video input and output. Because some users wanted the convenience of a single cable, this same USB Type-C port can also support up to 20 V at 5 A, so 100 W total via USB PowerDelivery. Additional ports include one more USB Type-C, three USB Type-A, a single 3.5 mm audio jack driven by the video input source, and a USB Type-B port that connects the USB hub to the computer.

The Spectrum QHD 144Hz can be reserved at $369; the QHD 240Hz at $509; and the 4K 144Hz at $609 but these prices will go up as the shipping dates approach. The exact time these prices will increase will be determined by order numbers, so there is not some firm date you would want to order by to get these prices. You do need to put down $100 when you reserve a monitor, but this is fully refundable. You can also add another $99 to the price if you want the Spectrum Stand to be included, as 46% of the community said they wanted to purchase the monitor without a stand, as they will just use a VESA mount anyway. Though reservations are being taken, there are still some details to be ironed out and are not yet finalized, so those who want a feature added or removed can go to eve.community to add their voice to the process.
