Guest_Jim_* Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 There is still more monitor-related news from CES 2020, and this item is for Samsung's new Odyssey Gaming line unveiled at the show. The two new displays, the G7 and G9, are unlike any other displays I can think of with their significant 1000R curves. The G9 especially with its 5120x1440 resolution, 49 in display may feel like it is wrapping around you as its VA panel provides a 240 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits for HDR1000 support. It also is AMD FreeSync 2 and should be NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible, though that validation is currently in progress. The exterior of the monitor has lighting around its rear core, offering five lighting effect options and 52 colors. If you do not need such a wide display, two G7 monitors were also announced, with both sporting just a 16:9 aspect ratio at a resolution of 2560x1440. These VA panels also support HDR600 with up to 600 nits of brightness, but like the G9 have a 240 Hz refresh rate and support FreeSync 2 and G-Sync Compatible. The difference between the two G7 monitors are their sizes of 27 in and 32 in. The Odyssey Gaming G9 and G7 monitors are to be available in Q2.
