Guest_Jim_* Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Among the demos AMD had at Computex to show off its upcoming components was a new test to show the greater bandwidth of PCIe 4.0 compared to the current standard, PCIe 3.0. Today it has been announced that this test will be coming to 3DMark Advanced Edition and Professional Edition this Summer. It may be worth noting that, at least for the foreseeable future, it is unlikely PCIe bandwidth will be a limiting factor for graphics cards. Though PCIe 4.0 can offer double the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 that does not necessarily mean performance will be better just because of that, though the time may come when that is the case. It will still be a neat test to see what the numbers are though, especially as NVMe SSDs are developed that will push to the edge of the greater bandwidth.
