Guest_Jim_* Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Next month is when we can expect Microsoft to start rolling out the May 2019 update for Windows 10, but it looks like some may get an error message when they try to install it. The message will claim that the PC's hardware is not ready, and that a fix is coming, but if you get this message and do not want to wait to update, just unplug your USB drives and SD cards. Apparently there is an issue with drive letters being reassigned inappropriately, triggering this issue. If the update were installed anyway, it could result in the letters being reassigned. According to a note in the Cause information on the Microsoft Support page for the problem, internal hard drives can also be affected by this, so if you are running multiple drives, you may be waiting for the May 2019 update until Microsoft has its patch for this ready.
