One of the advantages to purchasing a graphics card from an add-in board partner is it may have a different design to the PCB for better performance and overclocking than the reference, but this can also mean you need a new water block, if you want to add it to a custom liquid cooling setup. EK Water Blocks has announced new blocks specifically for the ASUS ROG Strix versions of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, RTX 2080, and RTX 2080 Ti.

Each card has its own specially designed block, and all of these blocks will cool the GPU, VRAM, and VRMs to keep temperatures down and performance stable. The blocks themselves are made of machined nickel-plated copper and machined acrylic, with EPDM O-rings to seal the fluid in, and brass standoffs already installed. Like so many products these days, there are RGB LEDs present so you can light these blocks up as you wish. Two of the light sources are in the terminal cover and then another two LED strips are present, one at each end. These 12 V RGB LEDS are compatible with 4-pin 12 V RGB LED headers on many motherboards and will work with the RGB sync technologies of the major motherboard manufacturers.

The water blocks each cost $174.99 and if you want a back plate, for aesthetic purposes or the passive cooling they can offer, they are available for $43.99 or $53.99. The difference in price aligns with if they are anodized black aluminum ($43.99) or nickel-plated aluminum ($53.99).
