Gremlin Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Owned a Asus Router RT-AC66U for approximately 3 years and due to the heat in the room it has been acting up. So ended up buying the AC68. Nothing special is set only port forwarding is set up for the security camera access over the phone. Same thing as the 66U Now played Battlefield 4 last night. On the usual server that I play on I used to get pings of 56 with the AC66U and now with the new one I get ping of 86?? It is wired not wireless.. 68u has little more horsepower than the 66U.. Any ideas?? Thank you
Waco Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Placebo effect? Routers have so little to do with latency to remote servers it's not even part of the troubleshooting steps for lag (generally). I've got a router from the early 2000s that can only to 100 Mbit and it still works identically to any brand-new router for Internet access. Milliseconds are an eternity for even the laziest microprocessors on routers.
Gremlin Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 @Waco Well I switched the pc lan port to a different port on the router and it worked fine.
