Fanatic Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 It all started when I toasted a power supply. Upon installing the new supply and starting the system the system would not boot. Would get through the memory check just fine but Windows would not take over. It's like it would hang on the MOBO splash screen. I can enter the bios and make changes. So After hours of messing around I found I could unplug 1 HDD and the computer would boot. So I then shut it down and plugged the HDD back in and started the sytem and it hung again. So I then unplugged the other HDD and it booted again. It seems to be spefic to HDD, but after changing jumpers and stuff it wouldn't work. Any help? kirky_D Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 what are the power ratings on your previous and new psu's? and how much stuff do you have connected to the power supply? it might be a power drainage if so you'll need a more powerfull psu other than the power drainage i can't think of anything else that could be wrong
asus Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 umm..i think i know the prob.. ok.. make shure the HD is set to Master not "spetial master" but master.. but you also must have at least one slave drive. Now.... play around with the jumpers for a wile on both hd's.. i had the same problem.. good luck.. post if you fix it!

kirky_D Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 isint that only if you have 1 hd well i dont know really. it works with my cdrw and hard drive on one ide cable. i assume it works with two hard drives aswell. i dont see why it shouldn't
Some_Guy_ Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 isint that only if you have 1 hd No, that does work with 2 drives as well. The only trick is that both drives need to be set to CS for it to work.
H2O Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 I don't know about HDD, but I used 'CS' jumper setting with two CD drives, and the mobo wouldn't recognize either one! After talking to some ppl on OCC IRC, it turns out that I had to manually set one to master and one to slave for the mobo to recognize them both. So I would advise to set master/slave on the HDD not CS.
