jkeener71 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 So if I click on a link to open in a new tab, a new tab will open, but this site (tried many) will not load. But if I paste the url into the new tab, then it will load. Weird thing in this only happens in desktop mode. When I use IE in Metro mode the tabs work. Other than that, everything works flawless in Windows and IE. Its just really annoying. I tried the comintrep (Complete Internet Repair) tool but that didnt help. Any ideas?? I don't want to re-image just to fix something slightly annoying. Thank you. Tried uninstalling and re-installing IE too. wevsspot Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Download & run this utility; http://download.cnet.com/Complete-Internet-Repair/3000-2094_4-75332305.html Since it is a CNET download, I'd recommend virus & malware scan before executing the utility. Use your resident AV soluion + Malwarebytes. Make sure to "OPT-OUT" of any optional installations like toolbars, pop-up blockers or home page redirectors. Alternatively you can download the utility from MajorGeeks; http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/complete_internet_repair.html Either way, make sure to virus & malware scan before executing the utility. jkeener71 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Tried that utility, but doesn't fix my problem. I select all the check boxes. Then it tells me to restart my computer. But the problem is still there. Tried several times. Unless I am doing it wrong, should I only select a specific option and if so, which one(s)? Waco Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Does another browser work? I wouldn't be surprised if this is specific to IE.
jkeener71 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 It works fine in Firefox, but I guess it is kinda bugging me why it is doing this. You would think uninstalling and re-installing IE would fix something like this. To uninstall IE, I went to the programs and features, unchecked the Internet explorer option, it went through the uninstall process and then restarted my computer. Went to features again and enable the option, it went through the install process, restarted my computer. Tried the tabs still not working. Is there another (more complete) way to uninstall IE? Any one have any ideas?
wevsspot Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Are you running any add-ons to IE11? And if so which ones (Microsoft or 3rd party)? What antivirus are you running? Does the same thing happen if you run IE11 32-bit?
