automaton Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 sabertooth 990fx r2 hyper 212 evo 8350could I just slightly raise multiplier and fsb without going into voltages for 4.3 oc
SpikeSoprano Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Try it and see what happens, 4.3 is not too high a oc, just make sure you have a temp monitoring program running and don't let the temps get too high.
The III Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 If you just raise the multiplier slightly and leave voltage at stock, you should be OK (unless your chip is a real dog). Raising the FSB raises other issues as you will be OC'ing memory and other components. So, just raise your multiplier a couple of notches and then stress check the system. Hopefully, it will remain cool and stable. Just about any good chip with decent cooling can be overclocked a few GHz without any problems. WarWeeny Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Why go for 0.3 GHz overclock when you don't see real world performance increases? If you would overclock it to let's say 4.8 GHz, then we talk about actual difference, but i don't know how hot that chip gets. In your current situation, you might as well better be off running it at stock settings and wait till you actually need to overclock when you need the performance. Pendaws Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Hi there, I am a Newbie as you can tell. I have this MB and just installed Win 7 on it today after a Win8 fiasco. At the moment I have just gone to multiplier 20.0 from Stock 18.0 and I would like to see what I can get. The CPU us an FX8120, does anyone have any experience with same?
