ade010 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Hi First off ill start by saying I am not a noob to building and repairing my family's pc's but this one has me baffled My son was playing Ace of Spades on steam the other night when his sound just quit,so i took my headphones up and nothing i thought maybe the audio on the mother drive has gone dead so i have put a sound blaster card in it,still nothing ,i have tried all the usual things to get sound out of this but to no avail ,in the control panel when i play music on it the level meter is dancing green, i have turned hd audio off in the bios , i even used Microsoft fix-it program and it said everything is fine What am i missing ? please someone help
EuroFight Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 One easy way to determine if it is a software issue would be to run a system restore to before when the issue started, then if the issue continues you know you have a hardware issue, which can help track down the problem. ade010 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 duh why i not think of that,so i go to restore and the only restore points there are from today the one thing i noticed is when i was trying to fix this earlier windows update wanted to install service pack one so i let it ,but everytime i restarted the pc it said update said it wanted to install service pack one, maybe my lad has turned off the pc while it was updating and it has messed something up? i am going to format the hdd and reinstall windows and see if this helps

EuroFight Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Glad to hear it was a software problem and not a hardware fault. Happy gaming Euro
