Waco Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 You'll know if it's stable after 1 or two rounds of Prime95, only takes 15 minutes a round. Much better than IBT to find stability. Depends. IBT tests serious full load stability. Prime95 seems to be better at finding "light" load errors.
El_Capitan Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 IBT is a great test for testing CPU temps, but Prime95 does a better job in finding errors. At any rate, testing CPU stability is different for everyone. I use Prime95 initially, then IBT, then track Cinebench, y-cruncher, a 3DMark11 Physics test, and encode a video. If it passes all those, and I never crash, I call it a good day. Others people run Prime95 for 24 hours, or fold on their overclocks and see how long it goes until it crashes. Those tests are too extreme for me. I want to know in 30 minutes or less if I'm fully stable, and so far my methods work for me.
