New Desktop Problems

My computer will not boot into a CD if the HDDs are plugged in. Even if the CD is first in the boot order.

If I boot to a CD by unplugging the HDDs then plugging them back in after it has booted I get an error in windows:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controlelr is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

 

The current setup is:

SATA3_0 : WDC WD2500

SATA3_1 : ASus DRW-24B1ST

SATA3_A0 : WDC WD10EALX

SATA3_A1: WDC WD5000

Windows and Ubuntu

 

Neither work with any HDDs plugged in.

Unplug all HDDs except the one you are trying to install on and see if that works.

Just did that yesterday with a spare parts system I put together.. had to use the bios boot menu.. when the bios first came up it listed an option to select boot device.. (F11 on the board I was using), and yea I had it set to boot the cd and it still tried to boot the hd because it had an old os on it.

Unplug all HDDs except the one you are trying to install on and see if that works.

 

Okay. I tried that, also didn't work.

BUT I contacted support and they told me I had to put the Optical Drive in a special SATA spot.

So I did that and it is working now.
