LuckyDeath Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) So I try to play BF3 and I get a random message telling me that I am not on latest AMD display drivers... which is weird because I just updated them (tells me I am on 11.5). So I decide to download them again and reinstall to be sure. During installation I get an error message when it tries to update the display driver and the HDMI/DP Audio Driver: "Driver Install: the installation failed Driver Install: the INF file was not found" I decide to start from scratch. I shut down, and remove my 2nd 5870 (I run two of them in crossfire). I boot up into safemode, run Driver Sweeper, clean my registry, and uninstall drivers in device manager. Reboot, and I try to install the single 5870 all by itself. I get the same error message. I have read of a work around of going into device manager, locating the driver manually, and installing them. But this also would not work, when I browse to the Driver folder in CCC, I get an error message: "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. There is no driver selected for the device information set or element." I've redone the above process a few times and I keep ending up with the same result. I've tried older versions of CCC as well (11.9,12.1, etc) and still the same problem. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Rofltroll Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Try a previous version of the drivers.
LuckyDeath Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Yeah, I've tried a few others, same issue.
Speedway Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I started having these issues also with my 6970s, even getting some crazy color distortion after the uninstall. Although AMD drivers have all of their own problems, IIRC when you uninstall and reboot, Windows 7 tries to auto install some generic AMD driver, which is where I thought the issue was coming from. I think I cancelled that operation and then the AMD driver installation went fine. But, I have slept since then
LuckyDeath Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Guess I'll give that a shot later. How do you keep windows from installing them automatically?
