Clock down or stay there.

I have the palit GTX 570 STANDARD and i overclocked it to the specifications of the GTX 570 Classified then i ran furmark.. i got up to 5:30 (estimate) minutes and got to a temp of 93 degrees (2 away from max) but it was still rising, i had to shut it off and it was only using 98% gpu load so what would 100% do O_O should i downclock to my defaults?

You could use a custom fan profile (like in MSI Afterburner) if you aren't already to try and keep the temps down. Also, try lowering the voltage slowly until it becomes unstable in furmark, then bump it up to the last known good voltage. That will help keep temps down as well.

Well, i dont now whats safe with voltages. Wouldnt lowering voltage make the card less powerful or possibly burn it out or kill it?

The fan was at 90% but the temp was still going strong up to 100% they are dual fan with a entire heatsink under it

It's better to undervolt that to overvolt. I would try lowering the voltage as much as possible first, and if that does not help then I would say yes, go ahead and back down the overclock. You could also try reapplying thermal paste to the heatsink but that is tedious and time consuming.

Thermal paste?? my family seems to have gene in it where everything that you know is expensive, when you touch it.. it breaks so that not a option haha, how muhc volts should i down it to per test?

Is there anything i will lose with lower volts?

if the voltage is too low, the card can become unstable at 100 percent load, other than that, no.

you would have had to bump up the voltage to overclock it right? so just lower it a couple of notches and re run furmark till you get to a stage where it is stable and lowest voltage

You can quite possibly get the same clock on lower volts. If that clock is not sustainable at those volts it will BSOD, in that case just put the volts back at the last known stable level.

BSOD? and i dont want to screw it up which i seem to do alot. Itslasted 5 minutes on furmark with 2 fans going at 91% and it was still going strong to 100 degrees..

I might just test some other clocks, is running furmark dangerous? some people say it is

Also, should i leave my CPU as it is? i prefer 4Ghz instead of 3.6

Though that is sorta backwards from how I understand it. Normally you get your clocks as high as you can, then when they become unstable you knock up the volts again. Rinse, and repeat. Minus the rinsing since computers don't like water :P
