q6600 quad @ 2.4Ghz not over clocked

Xfx 780i sli Mobo

2x OCZ 2g sli ready ram

Evga 460GTX graphics card

Slinecer 500w psu

About a month ago I turned on my PC, and the board was giving me a code 25; according to the MOBO book code 25 is Shadow System/Video Bios error.

I've tried a different card on the MOBO and after a few attempts (I got code 25 a few times) the card eventually booted.

I took it to someone's house(dariuas) (who is awesome and stuff) and tried the card in his PC (Which is an amazing PC and stuff) and it would not work there.

So I am about 99% sure that its pretty sure that its the GPU, but I wanted to get feedback from the best community of computer gurus on the market (Dariuas typed that)

:)

Love AJ

Well if you had a problem in your PC and in his, then I would say you are right on the money and it is a problem with the card. I always say if you suspect t a bad card, test it in another PC to be sure. Sounds like RMA time EVGA!

I figured it was bad, but I wanted to get him involved in our fantastic community, and see if anyone else has had this issue.

Always nice to get more people involved gpus work

Op you said another card failed a few times with the same error code... Correct?

Not saying dont rma the card because if it failed also on darius' mobo then its likely gone.

However there may be another underlying issue if the other card was having issues before eventually working.

Solved! Turns out it was my PSU. I guess the power it was delivering was not enough to boot my 460 GTX, but smaller cards seem to work on and off. Kinda strange it didn't give me a post code for a power issue. I guess the post code 25 for (Shadow system/Video BIOS) meant that it could not boot the videos bios from the GPU with the power it was receiving. Thanks for the input guys I was about to RMA my GPU. Glad someone said that it may be an underlying issue. only way i found out its gonna sound dumb. I got home and was fiddling around with a lower end gpu that Dariuas had laying around, that he got me to take home. Booted the pc code 25 posted and stayed. :whoa: I was thinking no way all the cards I've put in are not working or working on and off. I have a lil issue with one of my 120MM fans cutting on and off dumb molex with a loose wire once the fan cut off then on again noticing the other fans sped up in rpms. my pc booted with video. I shutdown rebooted code 25 and stayed. I moved the molex around again and it booted! Power issue i was thinking and sure enough! Got a new 600w PSU now and works perfectly! Much thanks to all! Without the input I would have said screw it and RMAed my gpu or motherboard.

Oh i guess when we were at Dariuas's we forgot to plug in the 2x 6pins in the gpu (duh on my part) :pfp: that's why it didn't boot...

 hahah

You would think, that occ forum admin would at least know how to hook up his mates gpu into his own rig, now wouldn't you Dariuas
