Waco Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 That seems off...I have played on my home theater with a GTS250 512 (a glorified 8800GT) and it runs great at high everything at 1920x1080. Granted, it's a Phenom II X3 720 @ stock but I would expect a 5200+ to be more than enough CPU for it...
Boinker Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Wow. That does not sound ring to me. Just a thought but is you driver revision up to date as of now. I know we just had a new driver release so I would get it and see if that resolves the issue.
Puck Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) I second a clean driver reinstall. Borderlands is not a demanding game at all - my GF's X3 Athlon rig with one of my ancient X1900XTs(which is slower then your 8800GT) can play it smoothly at the much higher res 1680x1050. StoneBridge Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 i had the same issues running borderlands on my athlon x2 5000+ @3.1Ghz. 4gb ram. using a radeon 4890, 1280x1024 res. Â so i think its the cpu thats bottlenecking..
Waco Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Make sure the game is set to auto-update in Steam. IIRC the release version with no patches ran like AAAASSSSSSS.

Waco Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hopefully that isn't the case as this machine will be out for playing it but looking at the above posts everyone that had a good experience with a similar or lesser GPU has a way better CPU. My old roommate played it on a 3800+ X2 and a 7800GT - so I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get it running smoothly.

Waco Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Vertical tearing? I can't say I've seen that before.

Waco Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Odd. I force it through the Borderland config editor tool I found somewhere. I haven't noticed any tearing after enabling it.
