Temperature Difference on 5770

I had a bearing die on my XFX HD 5770's cooler, so they sent me a new one. I had to mount the cooler myself, but I have experience mounting coolers and did so properly. Before the new cooler, my GPU maxed out at 60 degrees celsius. Now, MSI Afterburner 2.0.0 reports it maxing at 82 degrees celcius . Normally, I would accept this result and remount it. However, using FurMark 1.9.0 to test stability, it reported a max temp of 58 degrees celsius during the exact same test. That's a 24 degree difference! Is it possible that one of them is reporting wrong? How can I determine which is accurate?

XFX HD 5770

AMD Catalyst 11.2

OC: 1000 MHz core, 1351 MHz memory, 1287 mV.

In the test I ran below, it only took 1 minute to get a 12 degree difference.

Idle, my fan is at 25%, 35 degrees celsius. At load, GPU-Z reported exactly the same as Afterburner's temperatures, being at 100% fan. Assuming Afterburner has been telling the truth, how can I drop my temperatures back down to the 60 degree celsius range? I applied the proper amount of thermal paste and was careful to attach the fan properly... My only thoughts are that I didn't tighten the cooler enough, or the thermal paste sucks.

Here is a shot of the sensors page after 10 minutes. It seems that my emergency remount earlier has helped to stabilize the temps, but I need to perform more strenuous tests.

The fact that the fan is running at 100% under load indicates a problem to me. Most HD 5770s I've worked with never had the fan needing to run at 100% to cool them, even at highly overclocked settings.

It has to be an issue with contact or TIM application.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I have the fan on a custom cooling pattern through MSI Afterburner, where above 60 degrees the fan is set to run at 100%. This USED to keep the temps below 63 degrees celsius overclocked... But now it can't even on stock voltages. So yes, I agree, it must be the remount I performed, and not the programs as I hoped.
