CPU Temperature (Core i5 2500)

Recommended Posts

I've recently installed a Core i5 2500 and was trying to figure out if I did everything right.

So I turn on the PC and go directly to the BIOS (motherboard is a Gigabyte P67A-UD3). Under the "PC health status" tab, I can see the temperature of the CPU slowly and steadily rising to 59 ºC (room temperature ~ 30 ºC). Is this acceptable? Maybe I installed the cooler incorrectly?

PS: This processor apparently comes with a pre-applied thermal paste, it didn't come separately.

Thanks.

thats kinda high id remove paste apply some arctic silver and reseat heatsink if still higi check for bios update

If I install a temperature monitoring software, will it display the same temperature as the one in the BIOS? Because it must be using the same "thermometer" as the motherboard. Hope this isn't a dumb question :)

Thanks.
