Cooler Masteer Vortex vs Scythe Shuriken

Hi everyone. I'm going to start building my own PC soon. Recently, I bought a Raidmax Typhoon. I also have a EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR motherboard. It just happens that the CPU slot will be located directly under the Typhoon's side fan. According to review on the case on this site, I will have 5 inches of clearance between the CPU and the side fan. I did some research and found the CM Vortex and the Scythe Shuriken. Both should fit nicely and still leave space between the CPU cooler and the side fan for air circulation. The thing is, I want to know whether the CM Vortex of the Shuriken will work best. I will also be willing to take recommendations. Since I am trying to keep this build under $1000 I'd prefer for the CPU coolers to be $50 or under. Thank you Newegg for great prices (most of the time)

Note: I don't plan on any serious overclocking. I may OC the i7 from 2.8 ghz to 3 ghz.

Other CPU coolers I am considering: Maybe one one these may be best.

SilenX EFZ-80HA2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835226029

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134

Scythe SCSMZ-2000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185140

XIGMATEK Durin D982 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233059

Update: I may do a little modding on the back of the case to allow for 2 fans. I'm would reposition the back fan and move the side panel fan to the back right next to each other. One above the other. If I do this, I may have 6 inches of clearence for a Cooler Master 212 Hyper Plus. I may also consider the Thermaltake CLP0579, ZEROtherm CORE92, and the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme just for the LEDs.

That's a strange choice of graphics card? You need to be aiming for at least a GTX 460 1GB or equivalent to get the best from your system? I presume you're overclocking from your choice of coolers. If funds are tight then personally I'd stick with the stock cooler for now and perhaps save a little on the memory so you can improve your power supply and graphics card.

Thanks for replying. The graphics card is 1.5 GB and I got it at Newegg for around $50 since it it was on sale a while ago. Anyway, I'm not going to game too heavily. Please read my update above as well. I plan to do overclocking but nothing too major as I'm rather new to it.

With a i7 930 and a mid range cpu cooler, your not going to be able to overclock much at all!

I think your being very limited by your choice of computer case!

For best air flow, a nice big full tower case will go far!

I also agree with Paul, about getting a better PSU and Graphics card!

I'm just saying that some of your choices are high end, and then some aren't.

Saving up another couple hundred could really do your new system good!!!

Just something to think about.

With these specs here:

Cooling System

80mm Fans - 1 x 80mm side fan, 1 x 80mm rear fan

120mm Fans - 1 x 120mm Blue LED front fan

It's not the best air flow for an i7 system!

Oh well. I already bought the case. It was best for its price of $35. And one more thing, the case i annoying me... It only came with 8 mounting screws for mounting the motherboard. Its missing one. When I contacted Raidmax, they sent me the screws but they were shorter than the ones on the case. I contacted Newegg but since the didn't have the individual screws, I now have to work with 9 shorter screws. The bracket for the Hyper 212 plus might not even fit under th mobo due to such shortened screws. I only got the components because of compatibility and for price. Most of them were on sale or were extremely for with promo codes and such. As I said, I'm on a budget. I don't plan to overclock seriously, 2.8 ghx to at least 3 ghz is fine for me.

Since my dad is paying for this, I knew he would only buy a case that was cheap but decent. If my budget was even $50 more, I might of had more freedom. I might of even gotten one of those CM HAF cases.
